How Do I Add Blogrolling to My Blogger Template?

Yesterday morning, Deacon Barry wrote…
I’ve got an account with blogrolling, and it says paste the appropriate code in your HTML, but it doesn’t say where. I’ve got a rudimentary knowledge of HTML, so I’ve found where the code for the sidebar should be. It’s not just the blogroll, there’s things like banners and quizzes I’d like to include, but everybody seems to assume you know where to paste. I’ve even bought a couple of books on blogging, thinking they’d have how-to information, but they just have chapters describing the different bloghosts.
(Okay, it was technically afternoon his time. My wife would roll her eyes at this point and testify ardently to my pedantry, but if she has to live with it, so do you.)
Why did it take me so long to answer? Well, it’s a very good question. I’ve thought and thought and thought about how he could solve this problem himself.
Know what I’ve come up with?
Nothing.
Well, not exactly nothing. But close.
Editing the HTML for your Blogger template — or for any blog template, for that matter — isn’t a trivial task. Much like getting up under the hood of your car (that’s a “bonnet” to you guys on his side of the pond), you have to have at least a pretty good idea of what you’re looking at when you look inside.
For blogging, that means having at least a basic knowledge of both HTML and CSS. Of course, with some templates, and working in Blogger’s template editor, even a basic level of knowledge might not be enough.
So my best advice? Make friends with the geeky neighbor (or “neighbour,” if you prefer) kid next door who knows how to write a web page. He can get in and out in no time, and he might even show you what he’s doing so that you can make your own tweaks next time.
Now the obvious problem with this solution is that many of you might not know any geeky neighbor kids. What to do then? Well, on the Internet everyone’s really a neighbor, right? With that in mind, I’m starting a list of geeky neighbor kids who will jump in and help you do something real quick in exchange for a link to their site or something else trivial. It’s a short list so far, but I’m accepting recommendations
Hope this helps!
(By the way, as a former (okay, current) “geeky neighbor kid,” I use the term with the utmost respect.)

Would you believe it? Google have forced me into an upgrade and now I’ve got a blogroll! By now, everyone on Blogger will have the same access.
