You’ll Never Get Rich Blogging

With the first post on Ask Shane, I think the place to start is with the best advice I can give you: you’re not going to get rich blogging.

I promise.

Yes, there are obvious exceptions like Darren Rowse, but remember what they say about the exception proving the rule.

To make any real money blogging, you have to be an a-list blogger with tons of traffic, and it takes a lot of hard work and more than a little serendipity to get there. So I just want to set expectations right out of the gate.

With that in mind, if you’re looking to be a full-time blogger, this blog probably isn’t for you. If, however, you blog just because you like to, you’re absolutely in the right place.

If you blog because you enjoy it and about something you’re passionate about, I’m going to show you how to do it even better — and make some fun money along the way. I call it “fun money” because it probably won’t allow you to quit your full-time job, but you can definitely earn enough each month for a shopping trip, a meal out at a nice restaurant, a monthly payment on a new laptop, etc. — whatever is “fun” for you.

So let’s get started! And if you have any questions, be sure to ask!

I only agree in part, if you are blogging only to make money by companies that are paying you to blog or Google Adsense then you are right.

On the other hand, if you are using blogging to market your on or offline business using proper marketing technique that draw a ton of traffic, then you can really get paid by blogging provided you have a opt in list.

  • [...] You’ll never get rich blogging. 18 months ago that was the very first thing I wrote on this blog, and I still think it’s true. However, that’s no reason not to make some money from your blog. Depending on what you’re blogging about, even 10,000 to 15,000 monthly visitors could earn you $5,000 or more annually. Not enough to quit a job on, but who couldn’t use an extra $416.67 every month? [...]
