Looks like John Chow’s Technorati 100 blog has been hacked by ISKORPTIX (safe link), and Geek in Paradise is reporting that the hacker has hit several other blogs as well. Looks like it may be a server hack and not a WordPress hack.
Update, 18:05 Eastern: Prompted by Tim in the comments below, I’ve read back through everything now, and it doesn’t look like we know what the problem is at all. I can’t believe he’s still down, though. That’s unreal. Looking at Google’s cached copy of his homepage from April 11, he was actually running the very latest version of WordPress. It will be very interesting to see what ends up being the issue. HMTKSteve has the best running updates I’ve found so far.
Update, 19:15 Eastern: Looks like he’s back up now, but still no word on what happened. He doesn’t even mention the down time in his latest post.

Yep, John’s site has been down all day for me.
What makes you think it was a server hack and not a wordpress hack?

That ISKORPTIX link above quotes a support email from GoDaddy that blames an “ssfm vulnerability” that is “not something [they] can really defend against.” That should have raised red flags with me, as should the mention of GoDaddy, but it didn’t. There’s no way someone hacks thousands of websites within minutes and they don’t have a fix for the vulnerability.
I’m updating the post now.
