Making Money On The Internet Is A Big Fat Scam

Love this post by Alan today.  Here’s my favorite part:

Gurus claiming they make money from the net or whatever line they’re using is like saying the guy we buy produce from at the flea market is “making money from the flea market.”  No, he has a business at the flea market and he busts his tail setting up shop, ordering produce, doing paperwork, stacking watermelons, sweeping the floor, unpacking his truck and so on.  The flea market has no magic, it’s the work that John does in his produce business that puts food on his table and pays his bills.

Alan and I see eye-to-eye on a lot of things, not the least of which is this.

When I tell someone that I “make money from the net”, I’m subsuming everything he listed. Some people are content at hearing that and don’t dig deeper. Others are more curious and then that’s when the seminar starts.

    Shane,

    No doubt about it.

Yanik calls people like Coughlin “shovel sellers”. EG, they sell shovels but they’ve never dug a hole:)
