Vultures

6 turkey vultures and 4 black vultures take care of the squirrel whose luck apparently ran out on his last trip across the road in front of our house. (Click the picture for a closer look.)

    We get turkey vultures in our neck of the woods sometimes. They always creep me out a bit.

    Nice shot, BTW! You really captured the impressiveness of their wingspan.

    10 vultures for one little squirrel?? Food must be getting scarce around there :)

    @Beth: They were quite accommodating. They stayed that way for several minutes. It was amazing.

    @geena: No kidding. Plus it took them over an hour to finally polish off the little guy. They definitely got their money’s worth, though.
